Mysore back!

It took around 18 hours to make the trip from Gokarna and Om Beach here to Mysore: 9am, climb a cliff, take a rickshaw, take an hour bus to Kumta on some very very bumpy roads, then take a 7 hour bus trip to Mangalore on an even worse road, i think around 2 hours must have been spent on what may as well have been a bucking bronco, take a rickshaw to train station, then take 8 hour train to Mysore. We arrived 4.30am. Couldn’t book a sleeper train, so it was a 2nd class seat in a packed carriage, with little to no sleep. it was a great journey for the most part, but by around 8pm both our backs were a mess and there was nothing we could do. Please stop beating that cow!

Quickie. Hampi is an amazing place – been here four days and i think we’ve exhausted all sensible activities. Vic is nodding. We’re off now to Gokarna and we’re both hoping the 12 hour overnight ride is kind to us.

It’s nice to get somewhere where hardly anyone stops and stares at us. If ever you arrive here, The Mango Tree is a great place to sit and eat overlooking the river. Photos in this cafe are looking unlikely i’m afraid but take our word, it’s stunning.

Monkies!! They’re everywhere and surprisingly well behaved too.

The title, yes, we were walking along the river path, passed a cow that looked to be enjoying herself, strolling along. When all of a sudden this wailing banshee comes running and screaming at the poor bugger weilding a massive great stick! She then starts beating the beast across the bum – the cow took off with her in hot pursuit into the dark. Very funny.

More soon…
